my mission

I'm really struggling to get focused on doing what I believe to be an important endeavor. I can so clearly see, in my minds eye, a campus dedicated to bettering the lives of many through a multi-faceted approach. I just can't seem to get the kick-start I need to 'pass go'. I thought today that my first step is the mission statement. I think that most successful ventures have a quality dicriptive forceful, if not powerful mission statement.
I'm open to advise on how to approach or what I should encompass in this statement.
